Keeping track of your receipts for tax time
Five months has passed since tax time… how are you doing on the whole keeping track of receipts thing? If it’s not going so well, take the time to revisit because every each Americans lose a significant portion of their tax refund simply because they have lost receipts. And yes, even dumping receipts into a shoebox is better than leaving them strewn throughout the house to cause panic come next tax season.
Want a better strategy than a shoebox? Get yourself an according file with each tab section labeled clearly… then keep it somewhere convenient where it will be easy to actually use. There is no use hiding it away in the spare bedroom where you never go, keep it next to your dresser in the bedroom if it makes sense.
