I have been married 10 years and my husband 6 months ago closed all of our joint accounts, gave me 700.00 and told me to open my own account. He took savings everything, I do not have access to his accounts. I make quite a bit less than he does, and he just got another promotion, I pay all groceries, insurance various other bills and any and all things that the children need. Needless to say, I am financially drained and considering getting another job or even a third just to pay bills. He does not help at all !
What do I do ? Im In Wisconsin

I know such cases when people don't notice the fact that interest rates can be changed. That's why before you apply for a credit card, you should read about credit offers carefully. And you needn't blame other people.

Great advice. What I found is that people think they have to save large amounts at a time. Not so.

I had my daughters automatically transfer $5 from a checking account to a savings account...they couldn't believe how quickly that account grew. And because it was done automatically, they didn't even have to think about it.

Even if you just take the spare change left over at the end of the day, put it in a jar, at the end of a month, deposit it in the bank...you'd be surprised how it adds up.

Consistently saving small amounts is the key!!

Hi Financial Diva:

Thanks for the mention and the tips. I like your ideas!!

Your question really pushed me to get answers from some of the bookstores. The answers varied. Some were totally cool about free-readers and others are not.
I chatted with the a spokeswoman from Borders, who says that the company encourages people to hang out with magazines.
Thanks for the prompt!!!

I read magazines in my Barnes and Noble while drinking coffee, I never noticed a sign saying no unpaid merchandise, but I haven't looked for it. I don't sit smack in front of the cashier tho, I usually take a seat on the side, kind of hidden by one of the shelving units with the coffee cups etc.
